I am really excited that our Season is about to start. We have a good nucleus returning, and a strong group of Freshmen and Transfers to take into battle this year.
Our Pitching Staff will be lead by Paul Davis, Charles Basford, Steven Groves, Josh McDorman, Wes Winter and transfer Ryan Sorce. Shortstop Tyson Workman can close if needed. All are Sophomores. Freshmen are led by JJ McLaughlin, Josh Doyle, Josh Tanski, Matt Peek and Sean McDorman. Sean O'Donovan will also have an opportunity to earn some innings on the mound.
Our defense will be led by Workman and transfer Harold Collins up the middle at SS and 2B. Catching will be led by All State Soph Saxon Butler, who will also play 1B. Blake Brown, a freshman will play 3B. Transfer Tony Voiro will man the bag when Saxon catches.
Outfield looks like J. McDorman, Tanski and Doyle with Voiro in the mix as all 3 of them pitch.
This is probably our deepest staff in a while, our most physical team in ages and could rival '08's team in terms of accomlishments. The question I have is our defense was spotty all Fall and we won't know about our pitching until we get along in the schedule. Nevertheless, this should be a great year. One I hope we can count on getting to State and to Grand Junction!
